Develop either a handout using PowerPoint that is directed toward a diverse audience of individuals interested in becoming Texas teachers. Assume your target audience knows nothing about the credentialing process. Address the following areas:
- The Texas State Board for Educator Certification’s (SBEC) purpose and for the Certification Department of the Texas Education Agency (TEA)
- Basic requirements for becoming a teacher
- How educators from other states or countries earn Texas credentials
- How to perform a search for official records of Texas educator certificates in order to view processed credentials
- The difference between emergency permits, probationary certificates, and standard certificates
- How to renew a classroom teacher’s standard certificate
- Additional information about credentialing that you feel would be useful for the target audience.
