A pothole in a pavement is filled with some new material subjected to vehicle tra!c. The aim of this exercise is to analyze stresses and

surfaces between the new material in the pothole and the rigid material surrounding it, are frictionless. The entire problem will be solved in a Cartesian

coordinate system.
